The Big 5 Polystyrene Cornice Cutter takes the guesswork out of mitre joints. Instead of freehand cutting at an angle, the cornice lies flat on the cutting bed while a tensioned wire produces a clean, accurate cut every time. A simple three-factor system, face orientation, position, and cutting line, gives you the exact inner or outer mitre you need without measuring or marking. Whether you’re a contractor cutting corners daily or tackling a ceiling for the first time, this cornice cutting tool delivers the same consistent result on every joint, saving time and cutting down on filler and rework.
  • Cutting method: tensioned heated wire, flat-lying cutting bed design
  • Cut system: three-factor reference (face orientation, position, cutting line)
  • Corner capability: inner and outer mitre joints
  • Power: requires connected power supply or battery (battery sold separately)

Designed for repeatable, consistent cuts across large jobs where multiple corners need to match.

  • 1 x Cornice Cutter unit
  • 1 x Cutting wire (fitted)
  • Instruction manual
  • Disconnect power before cleaning or servicing.
  • Allow the cutting wire to cool fully before handling.
  • Wipe down the cutting bed and guide surfaces to remove polystyrene residue, buildup affects how flush the cornice sits during cutting.
  • Check wire tension regularly, a loose wire produces an inconsistent cut.
  • Replace the cutting wire when worn or damaged.
  • Store in a dry environment when not in use.

An inner corner is where two walls meet and the angle goes inward, such as the corner of a standard room. An outer corner is where a wall or feature projects outward, such as a column or external corner. Each requires a different cut combination on this cutting system.
The cutting system is designed for standard polystyrene cornice profiles. For unusual or oversized profiles, contact us to confirm compatibility before use.
Yes, when used correctly and with the safety guidelines followed. Keep hands clear of the active cutting wire, allow it to cool before handling, and disconnect power before any servicing. Full safety guidance is included with every unit. Terms and conditions apply.
